The find was made by Mr Phil Morris, the head of Television International Enterprises Archive, who fond the episodes earlier this year in a TV station in Nigeria.
The episodes which are parts 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 of the Enemy of the World and parts 2, 4, 5 & 6 of the Web Planet, were broadcast between 1967 and 1968 before being chucked by the BBC during a process called ‘junking’. This process meant that the BBC destroyed or filmed over much of their old footage to save space and money. The process affected over 150 classic Who episodes, around a third of which have popped up over the years due to overseas sales.
The current total of missing Who episodes rests at 97 episodes.
The recently discovered finds are on sale to buy on iTunes and will soon be available on DVD.
